Our story

From a curiosity about the world to a life spent exploring it

TOLIAI is an idea born of a love of travel, and a wish to help others see more of the world.

The idea

The best journeys begin not with a destination, but with a conversation

Layered hill ridges fading into the evening light

TOLIAI was born of a love of travel and a simple wish: to help people in Lithuania see more of the world, in a way that feels truly their own. Not a catalogue of ready-made packages, but a considered, personal approach — where each journey is shaped around the people taking it.

The name comes from the Lithuanian word for the far distances: horizons that quietly call us onward, whether they lie on the other side of the world or closer than we think.

The person at its heart

A curiosity that became a career

Giedre grew up in Lithuania with few chances to travel — which only strengthened her wish to see the world. She went on to study Travel Management in the UK, and a placement at STA Travel in London opened the door to a career that has now spanned more than fifteen years.

In that time she has developed itineraries and travel products, contracted suppliers and built lasting relationships with local specialists in many countries — and explored more than fifty countries herself.

But the numbers matter less than the care. She plans other people's journeys with the same attention she would give her own, and is genuinely delighted when someone feels encouraged to try somewhere new.

Our approach

A few simple convictions

TOLIAI isn't built around one kind of trip. What holds it together isn't a destination or a style, but a way of thinking about travel.

A trek and a villa can belong to the same journey.

Days on a mountain trail and days beside a pool aren't opposites. The best journeys often hold both — effort and ease, adventure and rest.

A familiar place can be explored in an unfamiliar way.

Even somewhere you feel you already know has another side: a quieter region, a different season, a local way in.

A family holiday can still feel adventurous.

Travelling with children doesn't mean giving up on discovery — only planning it thoughtfully, at a pace that suits everyone.

You don't need a destination, or a plan.

A feeling, a season or a half-formed idea is enough to begin. Working out the rest is part of the pleasure.

It all begins with listening.

Before suggesting anything, we want to understand who is travelling, what they love and how they'd like to feel. Everything else follows from that.

Travels

Places that shaped her

Four journeys that shaped how Giedre sees the world. These are her own travels, not TOLIAI client journeys.

Freedom above Queenstown

Giedre travelled around New Zealand with colleagues from STA Travel — and skydived over Queenstown. Mountains, lakes and that rare feeling of beauty, freedom and adventure arriving all at once. It's the kind of journey that shows how much can come from simply saying yes.

One step at a time

In Nepal, Giedre trekked in the Annapurna region with Simon. Later, in Borneo, she climbed Mount Kinabalu — a climb she describes as especially rewarding. Two very different mountains, joined by the same things: curiosity, perseverance and the quiet satisfaction of discovering a place on foot.

Thailand & the Philippines

At island pace

Giedre has returned to Thailand several times — for the food, the beaches and the islands. The Philippines won her over in much the same way: island after island, and remarkably clear water. Here, travel moves more slowly — and that is its charm.

Unexpected connections

Giedre and Simon met in Georgia, on a wild-camping adventure. It's a reminder of something travel does better than almost anything else: bringing people together in places, and in ways, that no one could have planned.

Your journey

Where would your curiosity take you?

Every story on this page began with a little curiosity. Yours can too — whether you already have a destination in mind or just a feeling you'd like to follow. Tell us a little about it — that's where we'll begin.

First, we listen. Then, we explore what's possible.
